     UEM Sub-sector Networks

    The UEM Sub-sector Networks and Professional Support Program, a component of the SEA-UEMA Project, has established the networks on the three sub-sectors water and sanitation, solid waste and air pollution. These networks will build partnerships with the national and city level authorities, environmental agencies, UEM graduate network, AIT alumni associations, development agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations and other potential partners. The networks are expected to contribute to the capacity building of UEM professionals and UEM related institutions and organizations in Southeast Asia.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Agencies and organizations related to the three sub-sectors (water and sanitation, solid waste and air pollution) working in the region
    • Agencies and organizations working on other related UEM issues
    • Individuals working in UEM related organizations, development agencies, academic institutions and civil society organizations
    • AIT Alumni of the UEM Field of Study working in Southeast Asia on UEM related issues
    • AIT Alumni from other UEM related Fields of Study (e.g. urban planning, environmental engineering etc) working in Southeast Asia on UEM related issues
    • Women organizations working on UEM and related issues

    Operation and Activities of the Networks

    The functioning of the networks will be participatory and ownership by the members will be encouraged. A core group of members will meet to collectively establish each network and decide the Terms of Reference for network operations and activities. The main function of each network is capacity building through:

    Network members will also have access to participate in activities under other components of the SEA-UEMA Project such as the Alumni Demonstration Projects, Joint Action Research and Application of Research Results & Lessons Learned. An internet portal will be developed for activities of the SEA-UEMA project with support from network members. Network members will also be encouraged to recommend applicants for UEM graduate education at the master and doctoral level.
