| Joint
Action Research |
The
Joint Action Research (JAR), a component of the SEA-UEMA
Project, seeks to undertake action research in cooperation
and collaboration with Canadian and national partners
in Southeast Asia on subject areas under the three
key UEM sub-sectors. JAR also recommends the lessons
learned from research for dissemination and the applications
of research results through pilot projects.
The JAR projects undertaken within the component
fall into two categories:
- JAR Cooperation Projects - initiated by and
awarded to research partners.
- JAR Collaboration Projects - initiated by AIT
Faculty members in consultation with a research
partner, and awarded to the partner.
In both categories, AIT Faculty members provide
technical assistance. Likewise, local gender experts
are assigned to the projects to ensure that gender
issues are well integrated in all stages of the
research.
The open competition for Cooperation Projects
is now closed. For Collaboration Projects, 2nd and
3rd round proposals are currently being processed
for awards. The criteria for selection and evaluation
of JAR projects for both Cooperation and Collaboration
categories are the same. Request for more JAR Cooperation
project proposals will depend on availability of
funds.

working on UEM issues. |
Research
Focus
The sectoral foci of JAR are water and sanitation, solid
waste and air pollution. Within each of the sectoral
focus, particular research themes are addressed through
cooperation and collaboration with research partners.
All research projects integrate gender equality and
poverty alleviation issues in UEM. The guidelines for
writing and submitting research proposals, Budget Estimation
Form and Gender Analysis Checklist can be downloaded
